The Engineering Analyst I is a dynamic role responsible for assisting the Engineering Analyst and GIS Solutions Lead in support and maintenance of various Engineering/GIS systems, used across the cooperative. A successful candidate is detail oriented, has proficient experience with database, SQL, mapping and Microsoft Office and is adept at identifying and applying trouble shooting/ problem-solving techniques in a timely manner. The ability to prioritize tasks, work independently as well as collaboratively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment is a requirement for this role. 

Responsibilities

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and performs duties of the GIS Technician position.
  • Performs and maintains integration and/or updates between GIS and external systems including Outage, AMR, SCADA, Staking, and CIS.
  • Data migration and validation between internal GIS systems and various internal and external data sources.
  • Creation, manipulation, and maintenance of views for printed maps, one-line diagrams, published maps, additional/requested documentation and resources for Engineering Services and Distribution Control.
  • Creation, manipulation, and maintenance of geographical views and queries for reporting and geospatial analysis.
  • Implementation of Python, SQL Server, and other scrips to automate updates and other programmable aspects.
  • Supports Engineering Analyst & GIS Solutions Lead in managing field data collection apps, asset management and special project databases as needed.
  • Assists the Engineering Analyst & GIS Solutions Lead with managing software versions, backups, and updates for SQL Server and GIS.
  • Assists Engineering Analyst & GIS Solutions Lead with OMS updates and integration improvements and training across departments.
  • Assists management with recognizing and defining opportunities to improve existing processes for data collection, evaluation, maintenance, and analytics, focusing on Engineering and GIS.
  • Protects confidential information and ensures any data shared internally or externally protects the privacy of our members and SSEMC.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree from a technical school or two-year college preferred.
  • One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Georgia Driver's License required

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Structured Query Language (SQL), iOS, and basic database management skills required (ArcGIS, SQL Server or Postgres preferred). 
  • Proficient with Windows based PCs and Hardware.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and resolve issues in a timely manner required.
  • A high degree of initiative and creativity while being detail oriented required.
  • Adept at applying troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to express technical information clearly and simply.
  • Must be available to work overtime occasionally as needed.
  • Must be readily available during storm situations to assist as needed according to the Extreme Storm Plan in place.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with ArcGIS and SQL Server (Postgres is a plus)
  • Experience working with spatial data and coordinate systems 
  • External GPS device experience
